Daejeon in 2017-2019
Followings are just small parts of what I have seen in Daejeon from 2017 summer to 2019 fall. If you want to see Daejeon in 1960's and later, click here.
Sunrise shot at Daedeok bridge on October 30, 2019. While I was in Daejeon, I was fascinated by scenery of sunrise with Gyejoksan and sunset with Gyeryongsan. I really loved them. Can't get enough!! Incidentally, the name of Gyejoksan (계족산, 鷄足山) is because its shape looks like chicken feet. However, this mountain was used to be called Bonghwangsan (봉황산, 鳳凰山) since the shape looks like phoenix. I think the name should be put back to the original one.
Shot on October 22, 2019. I wanted to take this photo before I left Daejeon. I made it!
This is a man-made lake constructed in 1975-1980, which is the 3rd largest lake in Korea. I always thought that water in Daejeon is more delicious than mineral water sold in supermarkets. Later I was told that water in Daejeon comes from this lake. No wonder! Shot on October 19, 2019.
Shot from the top of Gwaneumbong (766m, part of Gyeryongsan) on September 14, 2019. According to the prophecy of 정감록, this mountain was predicted to be the place of new dynasty after the fall of Joseon dynasty.
Shot from the top of Sambulbong (775m, part of Gyeryongsan) on September 14, 2019. IBS can be seen.

Gapcheon shot from Daedeok bridge on April 21, 2018. According to the book (조선환여승람) published in 1936, wild geese in the river (갑천낙안) are one of the 8 representative views in Daejeon. Luckily, we still see them today.

Shot on August 25, 2019. An area behind the station is called Soje-dong. Why? If you look at an old map of Daejeon, you would find that there was a lake called Sojeho (소제호). It seems that this lake was one of the representative 8 views (대전팔경) in Daejeon. Unfortunately, the beautiful lake was gone when Daedong river was constructed in 1927. When you visit the river, you would remember this story.
Shot on August 25, 2019. In 1960's there was a natural ice skating rink around here in winter. I am not sure whether people still enjoy the ice skating on the frozen river in winter.
